I began to hear about AirBnb.com in early 2014, and it took me nearly two years of providing extensive research, a whole lt of begging, whining, and pleading to convince my husband that our guest house would make a perfect listing. Finally, in a weak and probably drunken moment, he relented and gave in. It’s how I got him to go to Amsterdam and London, but I’ll save that story for another time…
More about Gone With The Fin-Studio Cottage though…
It’s what people call a mother-in-law house, and basically an open floor studio with a private bath, double closet, stackable washer and dryer and up until then, we used it for friends and family to stay, generally. Occasionally, it would be home to a few people in need here in there, and they woud stay for extended periods of time, but for the most part, it was empty and was endanger to becoming just another storage area, when the Ol’ Gray Bear finally gave me the go ahead.
We painted the ceilings and walls, then cleaned everything from the top to bottom, purchased all new bedding, added some home touches like dinnerware, utensils, some kitchen and home appliances, beach towels, egyptian cotton bedding and bath linens, and aded some other extras like a fishing kayak, for our guests to enjoy our back yard- the Choctawhatchee Bay!
It is perfect for business travelers, couples looking for a weekend escape, or attend one of our many music, wine, and art festivals, people who don’t want to stay in noisy, heavily congested resorts filled with snot-nosed unattended and rude children and pushy parents.
It is a home, albeit small, but none-the-less a cozy one…more like a cabin in the woods meets home, meets hotel/resort room, and none of the hassles that come with those places!
Next time…How I came up with the name… ‘Till then…
Safe Travels!
